Stay on ChatGPT Free unless a limit or missing feature is stopping work you actually need to do. Paying for Plus won’t make ordinary text chat unlimited: OpenAI says it already is on Free, subject to safeguards against misuse. Uploads, image creation and other tools still have separate limits. If those are your problem, the lower-cost Go plan may be enough; if you need the advanced GPT-5.6 Sol model, look at Plus.

“Unlimited” does not cover every way of using ChatGPT. A notice while attaching a document therefore tells you something different from a notice about the text conversation itself.
Uploads provide one published figure: OpenAI’s file-upload FAQ says Free users are limited to three file uploads per day, and that limits can be lowered at peak times. Add another line whenever you encounter a separate interruption on the same day. Record any reset time the notice gives you, but don’t copy private prompts, document contents, card details or account credentials into the log.
